About Sonia

Welcome! Thank you so much for being here and considering joining me in becoming more embodied through movement and creative practices.

I first found my way back into my body through being incredibly disconnected to my body — from years and years of working hard in school and not listening to my body or denying the importance of moving and playing in my body.

I turned to yoga first, for equal parts workout and stress relief, and from there a few years later, tried rock climbing for the first time. It was through climbing that I discovered the magic of moving and doing things with the body that felt impossible. I learned to trust my body and my instincts, and to healthily manage fear and not let it control or paralyze me. Both yoga and climbing have taught me so much about myself and my body that I could never have learned from books or others’ stories. Now, after over 15 years of practicing yoga and 12 years climbing, I have a very different view of what is best for my body and bodies in general in both yoga and climbing, as well as other movement practices.

I incorporate all I have learned from yoga, climbing, and various trainings (E-RYT® 200, YogaBody™ Certified Breath Coach, Balanced Body® Pilates Mat Certification, strength training, somatics practices, personal research, etc.) into my teaching and coaching. When not climbing or practicing yoga, I can be found beading, painting, writing fictional stories, playing out in nature, reading a good book or cuddling with my cats.

Where do the earrings fit into all of this? Well, I truly believe the consistent act of creating art throughout my life (painting, writing, storytelling, jewelry making, etc.) has deeply contributed to my ability to see alignment and postural subtleties in the body that the average person may not notice even when looking in the mirror. Through this eye to detail and creativity, I have developed novel ways to problem solve and help my clients more fully understand their own bodies and the movement practices they are striving to master.
